A study, written for U.S. Special Operations Command, suggested “clandestinely recruiting or hiring prominent bloggers.” This 2006 report for the Joint Special Operations University, “Blogs and Military Information Strategy,” offers a novel approach — co-opting bloggers, or even putting them on the payroll. “Hiring a block of bloggers to verbally attack a specific person or promote a specific message may be worth considering,” write the report’s co-authors, James Kinniburgh and Dororthy Denning. 

I just want to let the US Navy know that I’m ready, willing, and able and I work cheap.  In the first place, I am very pro-navy and pro-America.   I won’t even eat baklava since the troubles with the Islamists began and I’d have no trouble attacking people for my country.  I am willing to work for a flat rate or by the letter.  Because I am so patriotic to begin with it’d be very hard for anybody to recognize that the fix was in.

I was just reading the American Thinker Blog (http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/) and I saw this amazing graphic.  If you made every thousand deaths worth one cent, the deaths in Iraq only add up to 4 cents.  Not to pricey at all if you compare that to the number of Americans who have killed themselves or killed others in the time since the war began.

However, there’s other news.    According to the University of Georgia, Iraqi war veterans were more than two times as likely as other people to committ suicide.  Other Americans kill themselves at a rate of 8.9 per 100,000, but Iraqi veterans go up to 20.8 per 100,000.  That makes the stack for suicides grow even bigger.

Of course you will never hear liberals mention this, but in many ways Iraq is probably the safest place for these people.  Sure its easy to complain about the 4,000 people who died, but why don’t we ever talk about the ones who didn’t.

A house apparently is just one thing Rekzo helped Obama with.  It turns out that Edwin J. Gray the head of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board was coerced into calling off an investigation of Rezko by Obama and 4 other US Senators who had received campaign contributions from Rezko. 

In addition to campaign contributions, Michelle Obama and her father had invested $359,100 in a Rezko shopping center in April 2006, a year before Obama met with the regulators. The Obamas sometimes accompanied by their daughters and baby-sitter, had made at least nine trips at Rezko’s expense, sometimes aboard his private jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Rezko’s opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. Obama also did not pay Rezko for some of the trips.  It seems there is more to this Rezko thing than first appeared.  Any politician who would attempt to cheat the system in this way does not deserve to be President.

They took on the full fury of the enemy and they stood tall.  If the Iraqi government last for 1000 years, men will still say “This was their finest hour.”

Over the past 6 day, we finally got to see what the Iraqi army was made of.  Squaring off against Muqtada al-Sadr and his followers in fighting that began in Basra and soon spread through the South.

Scattered firing could be heard in central Baghdad hours after al-Sadr’s statement was released, and rockets or mortars were fired toward the U.S.-protected Green Zone. At least seven Iraqis were killed and 21 wounded when two rounds apparently fell short, striking houses in the commercial district of Karradah, police said.

A U.S. public address system in the Green Zone warned people to “duck and cover” and to stay away from windows. Iraqi security forces have been facing fierce resistance to their crackdown on militia violence in the southern city of Basra. Dozens of Shiite gunmen stormed a state TV facility in central Basra before al-Sadr’s declaration Sunday, forcing Iraqi troops guarding the building to flee and setting armored vehicles on fire. One of al-Maliki’s top security officials was killed in a mortar attack against the palace that houses the military operations center, officials said.

Still, despite the surprisingly tough resistance the Iraqi army was determined to handle the fight themselves and with US and alliance AC-130 gunship support and today al-Sadr announced his undonditional surrender as long as the Iraqis withdraw their troops from the streets of Basra, stop making arrests, allow al-Sadr control of Basra and leave the area.  The Iraqis were understandedly thrilled with the surrender and their hard fought victory. The surge is working.

One of the great joys of starting this blog has been my communications and friendship with TJ Baker-Holm whose candidate for Republican nominee in the 18th District of Texas House of Representatives I highlighted before.  I can’t say enough about Ms. Baker-Holm and the fact that her own biography reads like everything the Republican party says it wants to see from people–selfmade, responsible, community involved.  TJ is a single mother who I believe brings a very different perspective to politics from most of congress.  If we are truely serious about bringing different voices to the table in this country Ms. Baker-Holm should have a seat of honor at that table.  I am hopeful and confident that Texas politics has not seen the last of her.  There is going to be an upcoming feature on her in Skirt magazine and I strongly encourage people to check out the Skirt website at http://houston.skirt.com/ and their talented editor Dusty Gilbert.

In the 18th District, the current incumbent is Sheila Jackson Lee who came to congress with a lot of Enron funding.  She is best known for her insistence on complimentary upgrades to first class while flying.  Her Republican candidate this time is John Faulk who TJ Baker Holm flat out accuses of receiving monetary help in the election from Ms. Jackson Lee.  Faulk and Baker have much bad blood between them inclduing Faulk sending a recent certified letter to Ms Baker Holm’s mother. 

I know that the 18th is Barbara Jordan’s district and I do reallize there are strong reasons why an African-American representative makes sense for the district, but if people are serious about change in the district, I believe that the 18th District’s Mike Taylor has the best chance for making the change a reality.  Taylor (http://www.miketaylor08.us/) is an advocate of smaller more managable government and though I am in no means a libertarian, Taylor may be just what the 18th needs.  His chances of winning are small, but the impact of every vote for him over a simple straight ticket or leaving the contest blank is huge.  That’s why I’m making Mike Taylor my first endorsement on this blog.

Joe Lieberman today blasted his old party as protectionist and isolationist on ABC’s This Week program.  He says that unlike the Clinton years, the current Democratic party is hyperpartisan.

Lieberman, who won re-election to the Senate as an independent after losing the 2006 Connecticut Democratic primary anti-war candidate Ned Lamont, still caucuses with Democrats. But he has endorsed Republican John McCain’s presidential bid, and said Sunday that among the three presidential candidates, McCain comes closest to reflecting the legacy of John F. Kennedy.

This makes sense as JFK and McCain are contemporaries.  McCain and JFK both grew up in the era before World War II and could relate to the tough times of the depression.  They  grew up in an era before television and could remember what it was like to walk miles to school in the snow and go to the movies on the street car and have ice cream afterwards for only a quarter.   They could remember thrilling to The Shadow or laughing at Amos and Andy on the radio.  These are experiences that younger candidates like Clinton and Obama could relate to.  More’s the pity.  Think of the ship of state as being a car…a very big car.  Who would you rather have behind the wheel and driving you into your future–Some young 50 or 60 year old in a hurry? or your kindly old grandpa?

I have been feeling a little sad and a little wistful as I begin to contemplate the end of the Bush Presidency.  It has been an amazing time that people will grow more and more nostalgic for as the months and years roll on.  His surehanded and steady leadership has stewarded us through a variety of national crises.

I remember when Vladimir Putin and Bush first met.  Together they formed a friendship that has helped keep US and Russia on the same page working together for a better world.  When Bush first met Putin he said:

“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straight forward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue.

“I was able to get a sense of his soul.

“He’s a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that’s the beginning of a very constructive relationship.”

And of course Putin saw Bush as a fellow statesman and kindred spirit.  Now, Bush is about to be unceremoniously tossed aside after 8 years of service.  Putin on the other hand was given the position of Prime Minister where he can use his experience to help guide Russia.  It occurs to me that McCain could do something similiar by nominated Bush as his Vice-President.  Obviously, if anything happenned to McCain, Bush would not become President, but as Vice-President he would be in a great position to help and advise and also to meet with foreign leaders and use his connections to help advance American foreign policy aims.  I am now 110% sure that McCain will be the next President so let’s get moving on this.

When I came upon David’s Right Way of Thinking earlier today I knew I had found a kindred spirit.  His blog David’s Right Way of Thinking (http://davidsright.blogspot.com/) is spot on in agreement with me on a whole host of issues, but I recently read about the troubles in England and I reallized, well I reallized that David was right. 

David posted a list of the violent crimes from just one week in the UK:

Two women have been arrested after a female cyclist was stabbed to death in the Anfield area of Liverpool. The unidentified victim was riding a bicycle on Whitfield Road on Friday night when a car pulled up alongside her and an argument broke out.

A HAUL of shotguns, air weapons and other firearms that have been handed in to police were set to be destroyed in Edinburgh today. Around 800 weapons have been handed over to Lothian and Borders Police during an amnesty over the past six months.

Muslim leaders have condemned an attack on an Anglican clergyman calling the assault “cowardly and despicable”.  Canon Michael Ainsworth, 57, was beaten by youths described as Asian in the grounds of St George-in-the-East, Shadwell, east London, on 5 March.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries after an attack at a petrol station on Wednesday night.  Police said they were treating the incident, at Sainsbury’s petrol station in Woodlands Road, Glasgow, as attempted murder. The man was said to be in a serious condition at the Southern General Hospital.

Three teenagers who left a 16-year-old boy minutes from death and broke a 15-year-old’s cheekbone in what a judge called an “insatiable desire to inflict injury” have been jailed indefinitely. The three youths were 15 when they spent an afternoon hunting victims in Boston, Lincolnshire. They set about the 16-year-old with such savagery that he was left for dead, having fits on the ground and with blood spilling from his mouth.

Could you imagine if the United States had a crime blotter like that for just 7 days?  The liberals in this country would be outraged and running around with their hands up in the air like they are for this ridiculous Earth Hour.  To quote David:

“Gun control laws are considered the solution but don’t address the problem – the violence and crime. While it is easier to kill with a gun, UK is considering a knife registry and ban on samurai swords. Why? Because the reason for crime and violence has not been addressed. “

So what would happen in this country after they take away our right to bear arms? I don’t know, but I think it would go a little something like this:

Don’t think that gun control doesn’t affect you because you don’t have a gun–it does.

Geez Louise, its Earth Hour today as opposed to Earth Day.  Tomorrow will probably be Earth Minute.  That’s a picture of Sydney’s Earth Hour yesterday.  Evidently, they decided to start the party yesterday.

Earth Hour is being sponsored by the WWF and afterall the crazy stuff that Vince McMahon has pulled over the years I’m not at all surprised.  You watch, I guarantee he’s making money off this thing somehow, but at least he never seemed like such a liberal.

What really irritates me is the thing takes place from 8-9 at night.  I guess liberals want us to start going to bed when the sun goes down now.  Its a Saturday, there’s a good chance I’ll be driving somewhere and my car will get totaled by some liberal freak who turns off his headlights in support of Earth Hour. Great.

What’s stupider still is that it is totally unnecessary.  Its still cold in the winter and hot in the summer.  We have a whole bunch of liberal environazis trying to drum up hysteria, but there is no global warning.  Living through a Chicago winter I wish there was.  This reminds me of my trip to Atlanta last summer.  I kept hearing about the drought and the water shortage–they wouldn’t even give you water in restaurants.  When I got back to my hotel room I took an hour and 20 minute shower just to see.  There was no water shortage the hotel had plenty of water.  It was just more left wing hysteria.  I figure the global warming talk will last about another year or two before they switch to global cooling talk.  I have prayed this subject to death and I have done research.

I just saw John McCain’s new commercial for the American Presidential General Election and it was really good.  American television will hopefully be showing it soon to America.  I think it really captures what a great American John McCain is for the American voters in America who see it.  Not so sure on the voice over guy who I’m sure is a Patriotic American, but not quite the type to inspire America to get out and vote for McCain as President of America.  You’ve got to admit, McCain is the American President that Americans Have Been Waiting for in America.
