A Chance for a Truce with Muslims
Yesterday, the Pope baptized Italian journalist Magdi Allam–a Muslim. At first I was a little alarmed that the Pope would baptise an Islamist. Afterall, with the clash of civillization between the Muslim world and the Christian world I had to question the Pope’s forgiving nature by baptising a Muslim. However, the more I thought about it the more I reallized that this might be an excellent oppotunity to spread peace between Christians and Muslims. If we can encourage more Muslims to get baptised we can help to bridge understanding between Muslims and Christians. While I will never really approve of the Catholic Church it could certainly make a wonderful gateway for Muslims looking to find Jesus Christ. By bringing Muslims and Christians together in such a way perhaps we can win them over to our way of doing things. Have a safe and Happy Easter and to our Jewish friends a blessed Passover tomorrow.
That’s right, Nate. Baptize them all and let God sort ‘em out, I say!
The gentile in me thanks you for your Easter wishes. The Jewish side of the family will have to wait a bit longer for Passover this year.

When I was in college, there was a student down the hall from me from Pakistan. I can’t remember his full name, but I know we called him Azzizz. I think he was Muslim and he and I got along well enough.
