Mother’s Day Weekend
As part of John McCain’s team I was able to see a delightful video today showing John and his mother discussing his birth. His mother thinks he will make an excellent President. As we’re heading for the Fall election the mothers of the candidates will be crucial and I am sure that Mrs. McCain is up to the task.
Also, this week the Democrats attempted to strong arm the House to support H. Res. 1113, “Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother’s Day,” when courageous Tom Tiahrt of Kansas spoke up. Tiahrt and 177 other Republicans took a brave stand against the all-powerful greeting card lobby by striking down this ridiculous resolution. If our congress gives out their good will to every cop, mother, and heroic puppy who comes along similiar resolutions passed in the future for real heroes will have lost all their meaning. The hotly contested legislation passed, but I think it was at least a morale victory for the Republicans who refused to pander to the mom contingency.
