Obama Must Distance Himself from Black Church

with 11 comments

I have detailed Obama’s relationship with the Reverend Cleophus James and the Triple Rock Baptist Church  (http://thatsrightnate.wordpress.com/2008/03/12/obama-scandal-threatens-nominations/)  on this blog in the past and of course everybody knows about the Reverened Wright, but it seems that we have underestimated the extent to which the vile teachings of anti-american black churches have influenced him.

God didn’t call America to engage in a senseless, unjust war. . . .
And we are criminals in that war. We’ve committed more war crimes
almost than any nation in the world, and I’m going to continue to say
it. And we won’t stop it because of our pride and our arrogance as a
nation. But God has a way of even putting nations in their place…And
if you don’t stop your reckless course, I’ll rise up and break the
backbone of your power.”

This is not the language that a Presidential candidate should endorse, but what did Obama say, “Through his faith, courage, and wisdom, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. moved an entire nation. He preached the gospel of brotherhood; of equality and justice. That’s the cause for which he lived –and for which he died forty years ago today. “  I’m sorry, but reading that quote does that sound like the gospel of brotherhood and equality or the gospel of hate America.

If Barrack Obama is serious about uniting this country together then he needs to distance himself from Martin Luther King’s legacy and condemn the anti-American sentiments he expressed.  I don’t think Obama will do that, but until he seperates himself from such anti-American hatred I hope America will show the common sense to vote against him.

  1. Funny you brought that up. I was fairly confused about Vietnam early on. It seemed wrong, but I was used to thinking of the US as the good guys. I was young and my main exposure to foreign policy had been WWII movies and the scary but triumphant Cuban Missile Crisis. Anyway, it was Martin Luther King Jr. who convinced me that the war was just plain wrong. And you know how I turned out.

  2. You got to be freaking kidding me. There is no black church and there is no white church, there is just the church. I think it is far easier to fly under the cloak of patriotism, than to fly under the banner of God. Because flying under the banner of God insists that he be put on the throne and your love for America be pulled off and put in its proper place. Please when you have a chance read the book of Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Ezekiel. These people were guilty of the same mistake you are — thinking that God serves their nation. No, the nations are subject to God.

  3. I love the Bible, but I really don’t have much time for reading I’m afraid. God may not serve any nation, but you have to admit America is his favorite.

  4. “God may not serve any nation, but you have to admit America is his favorite.”

Sure, but that’s because God is into baseball and American football, not because of our policies.

  5. [...] implored Obama to distance himself from the hate speech of Reverend Wright and Martin Luther King (http://thatsrightnate.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/obama-must-distance-himself-from-black-church/), but at this point I don’t think that is enough.  Obama must capture the racist vote if he [...]

  6. With the unfortunate demise of the late Rev. James (Christmas, 2007), I fail to see how his inspiring and enlightened sermons could POSSIBLY EVER be blamed on ANY of the forthcoming difficulties that have surfaced between Rev. Wright and Sen. Obama.
After all, The Rev. Pastor Cleofus James’ sermons invariably focused on the gospel of redemption. His message regarding the power of conversion (“When I awoke this morning I heard a disturbing sound…the sound of a thousand lost souls..Have you seen the LIGHT?”) can be directly attributed to the conversion of one blatant ex-con and hardcore criminal, to go from a life of crime into being an honest musician.
Likewise his inspired message to the Panther Burns, KY Tent Revival Meeting congregation (“Invoke…The Calling Of The Blood!”), can be attributed to the obviously miraculous transformation of a corrupt Chicago cop into (again!) an HONEST WORKING MUSICIAN!
And of course, this says NOTHING about the late Rev. James’ openly stated and clear affections, (“Please, Please, Please…”) where He demonstrates his absolute unwillingness to leave either the Church Or his Wife.
In all, I have to say that the Rev, James is a credit to his community and a clear innovator in the evolution of Sacred Gospel music.
How dare you besmirch his worthy reputation. Could it be that those who would denounce such an inspirational figure are bitten with the vices of jealousy and vanity?
Perhaps if we could see how the good Reverend’s naysayers would do?
Given his Pulpit, Choir, Musicians, and Congregation, could THEY effect such awe inspiring acts of faith as are attributed to the late Reverend James?
    Somehow I doubt it.

  7. In the Spring of 2006 God sent a message. It is about the meaning of First is Last and Last is First. The message is this:
In the morning I go to Heaven. In the afternoon I live my life. In the evening I die, death.
What does this mean? It means that Birth is Last and Last is Birth. God also gives and example so that you can understand this better. Example: Mike Douglas died on his birthday, August 11. (note: Mike Douglas and Michael Douglas are two different people)

  8. That’s great, but does this mean Catherine Zeta Jones isn’t married to the talk show host?

  9. That’s Right Nate, Catherine isn’t married to Mike Douglas. Mike died in 2006, the same year God came to Syracuse with his messages.

  10. Correction: To the meaning of First is Last and Last is First. It means that Birth is Last and Birth is First. Sorry for the error. God talks in symbols and opposites at times so it takes time to figure out what he is saying. Some of his messages are clearer than others, plus they have multiple meanings.
