Obama Misses the Boat on Cuba
Today John McCain revealed yet another dangerous statement by Barrack Obama. It turns out he is also willing to talk to Cuba. Let me repeat that–he is open to talk to Cuba.
Cuba has been an enemy of the United States since the 1950s (See Godfather 2). They mistreat their people in an old fashioned communist state – not the good kind of communist state like China has. Meeting with the Cubans will only enbolden them. This will allow them to have a propaganda victory over us to the Cuban people. Though without a free press I guess they can have that whenever they want.
We have to hold fast to our embarago and isolation of Cuba because we are close to breaking their regime. They need to see that they can have a life like we do in the United States free from tyranny and ruled by law. I know Its crass, but we could never have Gitmo in this country because of our laws to protect individual rights and that’s something we should impress upon the Cuban people.
While they don’t really have a military to fight us with or any real terrorist opperations, I am sure that once emboldened the Cubans would do something pretty dreadful to us. That is why continuing our 50 year isolation of the country is the best bet the Cuban people have. Talk to Cuba? I say never.
One reason Cuban-Americans don’t vote Democrat is they remember the screams of their fathers and grandfathers on the beaches of Cuba calling out for air support while fighting Castro at the Bay of Pigs. This was air support promised to back of the invasion if it ran into trouble. An invasion we helped plan. John F. Kennedy refused to give the promised air support, and thousands of the Free Cubans died and were imprisoned. For the sake of those imprisoned after the Bay of Pigs, and other still imprisoned and tortured there, often on trumped-up charges, we owe it to not talk to Cuban officials until they change their evil ways.

Don’t be surprised that it was a Democrat who let down Cuba. They’ve been letting the US down for years. Those Cuban officials who imprisoned the freedom fighters who tried to overthrow them need to be removed from power before we talk to Cuba.
