President Bush is Feeling the Love
Recent polls have shown President Bush’s approval rating to be somewhere between waiting in line for the DMV and filing income taxes. I am happy to report that our noble leader has been noticing a much different reaction not picked up in the polls.
When he travels around the country, Bush feels less “antipathy” than he used to in the crowds, along the motorcade routes, and expressed by the individuals who talk to him at his events. “He feels there has been a shift in attitudes out there that’s not reflected in polling data,” according to a White House aide.
White House officials say that while the most recent AP-Ipsos poll may show that less than 30% of Americans support the job the President is doing, they hope to get almost half the country to stop disapproving by January. “With the jeering and throwing things down to a minnimum, the President is making real progress in winning over the American people,” said one aide.
I think of Bush musters that good, old, American can-do spirit he really can reach his goal and get “almost half the country to stop disapproving of him.” Look how well that guy in Zimbabwe did with the same dream. He put his mind to it, worked hard, and got all of the country to stop disapproving of him. Bush can do the same, or better!

My guess would be that’s Americans relief that he is actually on his way out that he is feeling. Could be a bit of wind though.
