Real American Heroes
The brilliant John Stossel always gets me thinking. For a reporter on MSM, he is surprisingly well informed. Last night on Larry King he proudly stood up for those unsung American heroes the oil copanies. Like a lot of Americans I’ve taken the oil companies for granted sometimes and I’ve ever villified them, but when you consider what they do for us–they really should get the respect that we currently give to firemen and police and used to give to teachers.
Service is an amazing thing and if they’re making a few bucks here and there, who can really hold it against them? House Republican Pete Sessions last month hit the nail on the head when he said, “We ought to be saying the energy companies are our friends.”
Well, friends share and if that means sharing our coastline or Alaska with the oil companies, that’s just part of being a friend. The Iraqi government recognized the value of big oil companies by awarding them no-bid contracts to service Iraq’s largest fields. Isn’t it about time those of us at home showed ths same kind of faith in these American heroes.
