If Barack Obama really wanted to be educated about what it takes to be a President, he would take the tour I’m taking now of Republican Presidential Libraries/Museums.  We began today in beautiful Marion, Ohio where we actually sat on the sight of Harding’s 4 front porch speeches.  Harding was one of our best and most beloved Presidents before his untimely passing of heart disease.  I truly was inspired by the magic of the estate and though the obnoxious tour guide nearly had a cow when I sat at the President’s former desk, I could feel the greatness of the man in his seat.  We took many photos and I will post some when we return.

I saw a lot of similiarities between McCain and Harding.  Both having married divorced women who were heirs of wealthy families.  Both being very concerned about veterans rights and controlling immigration.  Harding certainly has big shoes for McCain to fill.

Tomorrow, we are off to see the William Taft Library.  I am very curious to see how they deal with the controversy.  I am not sure how I feel about the man and his falling out with Roosevelt.  This tour has truely re-invigorated my love of country and pushes me forward to blog like I never have before.

  1. “Harding headed a cabinet of notable men such as Charles Evans Hughes, Andrew Mellon, Herbert Hoover and Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall, who was jailed for his involvement in the Teapot Dome scandal. In foreign affairs, Harding signed peace treaties that built on the Treaty of Versailles (which formally ended World War I). He also led the way to world Naval disarmament at the Washington Naval Conference of 1921–22.

By many, Harding is ranked as one of the least successful U.S. Presidents, despite having been immensely popular while in office.”

i’m sure mccain’s super excited you’re comparing him to harding, a guy that built up the worst treaty ever signed. you know, the one that ended WWI and caused WWII.
