Lincoln and McKinley

If Lincoln had been armed, would this have happened?
We really drove today. We had a spur of the moment idea and went two hours out of Louisville to Hodgenville Kentucky and the birthplace of Lincoln. I LOVED IT!! Lincoln has never, been one of my favorite Presidents because I think the civil war would have been avoidable if we had simply let the free market end slavery of its own economic failure. However, the gift shop was awesome. I picked up a Hillibilly toothbrush, a Hillbilly calendar, a confederate shot glass, and 3 wooden guns stamped with the Lincoln Birthplace logo. I really thought they’d stay away from guns in a place honoring Lincoln, but guns and Johnny Reb were clearly in abundance. It was terrific seeing them give equal weight to both confederate and union points of views…in the gift shop anyway.
The similiarities between McCain and Robert E. Lee were very clear. Both being career military men from Virginia who are willing to fight for causes they don’t believe in for the good of the country is a very inspiring symbol. Especially, the way they have both stood up to a man who is great at making speeches, but may not be acting in the country’s interests.
McKinley was less impressive. I loved the animatronics and the memorial outside is awe inspiriing. However, the museum is shared with, among others, the museum of broken down trucks. I also was hoping to pick up another souevenir gun for a friend’s kid, but even though McKinley like Lincoln was shot, they didn’t really have much. We’re in Canton now and tomorrow we’ll be in Grand Rapids. At some point I need to post more about the liberal bias in Batman. Unfortunately, the movie seems very successful and it isn’t clear that a That’s Right Nate boycott could derail it the same way it did Stoploss.
Ugh, Nate. You keep saying “we” visited such and such a place, but you never tell us who your traveling companion is. Could it be the 21 year old Christian woman of your dreams? And, while in Louisville, did you see the Zachary Taylor home or is too much of a lefty for you?

I disagree with what you said about the civil war the civil never would have been avoided sooner or later we were going to have to fight a war over the issue of slavery and lincoln was one of the greatest hero’s for fighting the war to end slavery

Since you are obviously male I do respect your opinions much more than most people who post here, but I think if Lincoln was so great he’d be on something bigger than the penny.

I disagree Ella. As President of the United States, Lincoln had an obligation to prevent the Civil War. I find it ironic that Obama used his Bible to not be sworn in on.

I agree Justin, but I must admit it would be very frightening if he hadn’t and was walking around as a 200 year old Zombie.
