Obama’s Call for Windfall Tax a Threat to Oil Companies
Obama sunk to a new low this week when he called for a windfall profit tax on oil companies to help pay for an emergency energy refund check of $1000 for American consumers. Of course the problem is a simple economic principle that Obama doesn’t grasp. When you raise the taxes on a company, their natural response is to relocate overseas where the taxes are less.
Think about it, you’re driving along the highway at 2AM and you reallize you’re on fumes and you better fill up. You see a sign on the right that at the next exit is an Exxon station. You rest easy. Now imagine instead that Obama’s plan goes through. Instead that Exxon station is in Canada or Serbia. Now, you’re stuck at the side of the road and at 3AM some axe wielding crazy person shows up. Yeah a fat lot of good that $1000 rebate check does you now.
Let’s have some common sense. If you still want gas stations and oil companies in this country, vote for McCain. High taxes drove the Beatles from England and are a large part of the reason Walmart only sells Chinese products. We don’t need them driving our oil companies overseas too.
you are a genius nate. for fuck’s sake why don’t people get it. it’s so clear how this windfall tax will fuck us over, it’s not even funny

Thanks ron. I know I sure don’t want to be driving to Canada for gas.
