Why Conservatism Works for America
The reason that conservatism is such an important force for America is that its based on such solid principles. You do not want somebody running this government that believes that government can solver problems. By electing conservatives, we are electing people who know that government is flawed, needs to get out of people’s lives, and still want to be a part of it.
These people make the ultimate sacrifice of being a part of what they hate most in the effort to cut the waste of unneccessary programs and talk tough to whatever country is threatening America’s interests. If, like me you own your own business, who would you most want to hire for a job? That’s right. The applicant who wants the job the least. This is true in politics as well.
This is the reason Bush has been such a great President. He has managed to keep the government out of our lives except in the important areas of stem cell research, gay marriage, wire tapping, indecency in broadcasting, and of course the $700,000,000,000 bailout that he pushed through congress this week.
The best government is the government that governs least and that is the path John McCain will follow as well. Eventually, government will not be necessary anymore, but in the meantime vote Republican. It is the next best thing to no government.
You provide a unique new argument about why conservatives are really the only option for American government. I’ve never heard anyone put that angle on it before but it makes so much damn sense!

I think you are correct here once again. My health care went up, my taxes went up, gas went up, homeless people keep distracting me on my way to work, my portfolio has just been ransacked, but other than that the govt has not really been involved much in my life. Way to go!!

It occured to me that the entire premise of this blog is based on a rabid devotion to attacking very well-made straw men. Thank you for providing such clear examples.

I remember the straw man from the Wizard of Oz and how he finally got a brain, but what does this have to do with Conservatism?

That was my point exactly. What does this [post] have to do with Conservatism? Conservatism is not anarchism, is not libertarianism and does not affirm that government can not solve problems.
Conservatism espouses personal responsiblity, moral integrity, and moral absolutism. Are these not “solid principles”?
Many who call themselves conservatives are not. Thus, the actions of these so-called conservatives are simply straw men gift wrapped and delivered. Be wise, and do not take them up.
I appreciate your humor. It’s refreshing to see armed opponents in the battle of wits. Unfortunately, this post was ill-informed and vacuous.

This is written out of ignorance. If you think government shouldn’t be in out life, then what makes it okay to control gay marriage? . Why is it any body else’s business? Also, “indecent broadcasting”? Yeah, it’s called freedom of speech Secondly, why on earth would any logical “business owner” hire an “applicant” who does not the job? I want a representative who Wants to be there and is involved in government for noble reasons, such as conserving liberty. It is impossible to successfully have no government. That, my friend, is called ANARCHY. And that does not work. Without a moderately involved government were would college students be without government run financial programs? How would disabled people receive help? Homeless children would be left out on the street. You are either poorly cultured and educated, completely naive about true human nature, and/or heartless. Ill give you the benefit of the doubt and assume no one has had the courage to tell you that your ideas are impossible, prejudice, and ignorant, but I am now so please do some research and look at ALL perspectives before you talk about stuff you obviously know nothing about and are entirely biased on.
