McCain’s Disdain for Spain
A lot of people have been surprised by John McCain’s statement that he would not meet with Spain if he was elected President. However, anybody who knows the Maverick should know that he doesn’t follow conventional wisdom. Anybody can talk tough about Iran or North Korea, but it is a heckuva lot more mavericky to go after Spain.
However, McCain’s problems with Spain are nothing new. In 1961, on a routine training mission he flew his plane into some power lines and blacked out much of Spain. Was this an accident? Only John McCain knows. Perhaps McCain’s hatred of Spain goes back even further. I have never seen him eating tapas and that in itself is somewhat alarming. Still, it is good to know that if McCain becomes President, he won’t be afraid to take on Spain.
