McCain Springs Trap on Obama
For me the best part of every Bond movie is when James Bond is put into a brilliant death trap by his antagonist in the movie. Today, John McCain announced to the world that he had done exactly that to Barrack Obama in the Presidential election. I can actually picture McCain’s gleeful expression as he says, “What I expect you to do Mr. Obama is lose”
McCain’s announcement came today at a rally in Virginia where McCain proudly announced to the crowd, “My friends we’ve got them right where we want them.” At first this might sound a little crazy, but I can clearly see where McCain is coming from.
In any Presidential election the states that can go to either candidate are called Battleground States. These states are traditionally states like Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania where the number of Republicans and Democrats are roughly even. This election however the battleground states are states like North Dakota, Virginia, Indiana, and North Carolina which are traditionally Republican states.
All of the battleground states this time around were easily won by George Bush. They have more Republicans than Democrats and that gives a definite edge to McCain. Obama is trying to defeat both a superior Republican ground organization and longstanding community and family ties to the Republican party. Obama may win a couple of those states, but I believe the rest will easily wind up in McCain’s column.
