One official language for the whole world would be a great idea (but maybe not Esperanto; the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic people would find it hard to learn). I think the best way to go about finding a single worldwide language would be to put the name of every language in a hat and draw one out at random; that way there would be no bias. People could still continue speaking regional languages among family and other people who speak the same language (that way our cultures would not be lost), but if every person on Earth knew a common language, tourism and exchanging information, ideas, and technology would be much easier. Also, it would eliminate confusion in places like Spain, which has about four different languages in different regions.

One world language makes sense It should be a language constructed and excepted by a majority of countries, People who speak the same language are less likely to kill each other, less wars, what is the downside?, It doesnt have to exclude the language you were born with. It doesnt make any sense that the whole world speaks so many different languages, How much understanding is lost in translations? The fact that Obama understands this is to his credit, the fact that right wing radicals are threatened by change is nothing new.

You are wrong. Obama is not trying to set up concentration camps, and Esperanto is not trying to destroy all other languages. Esperanto is supposed to be a second language, that everyone can learn in addition to their main one. It was created so that people could communicate with others from different cultures and backgrounds in all different countries. It was created to promote international cooperation and understanding (and ultimately peace.) Glenn Beck is an entertainer. You should double check anything that comes out of his mouth, because quite often it is just propaganda or flat out lies.

Esperanto is not an attempt or neither was it ever an attempt to be the national language as in no other language but esperanto. The language is ment to be a connector. It is supposed to be everyones second or third language. It is supposed to be where english is now but farther.

Wow Nate, you proved you know enough english to search for an esperanto translation site, type in your english, press a button, and then copy and paste your half-assed translation here. Honestly, you cannot literally translate english into another language, it just won’t make sense. besides, you forgot to check to see if the translator got every word..

Can’t you see that he is thoroughly enjoying pissing you off? I know his game, because I play it all the time too!

Now, it is possible that he is among the many ignorant people who truly believe no other language besides english should exist, but then again, who cares?

Yeah, some of the things he said are offensive, but so is Southpark. It has pissed me off so many times, but it is still funny. When you know that it is meant to piss you off, you are able to see the humour in it. I do agree, it is a sick kind of humour, but it isn’t that bad. english will probably not even be english 100 years from now…

Nate: I love how you maintained your composure and kept these people going. I want to admit that I whole heartedly disagree with you, but I haven’t been this entertained by article commentary in a long time.

I think the last time it entertained me this much, some kids on a forum were talking about getting high off of catnip and nutmeg.
