Meet the Hot New Face of the Republican Party
Audra Shay was just elected as the leader of the Young Republicans at their big convention in Indianapolis this weekend. The 38 year old Louisiana embodies everything you’d want in the future of your party and it’s nice to see my generation starting to step forward into leadership roles in the young Republican movement. Shay represresents a giant step forward. Audra barely remembers the Carter administration and when Sarah Palin was a senior in high school, Audra was only in junior high.
Despite being about 10 years older than the girls I date, Audra is part of my generation and she grew up with computers. As a result, she’s quite adept with Facebook as you can see from the following exchange:

That actually proved to be controversial as she was laughing at her friend calling Obama’s administrations “mad coons”, but as she pointed out she was laughing at his first comment and ignoring his second.
The vote proved extremely close between Shay and Rachel Hoff, a woman barely in her 30s who was most famous for vote fraud in South Dakota. She’ll have plenty more opportunities to run before the mandatory Young Republican cut off of 62 years old. What hurt her a lot this time was coming out for supporting civil unions as an alternative to gay marriage, which naturally convinced most of the Republican crowd that she herself was a Lesbian. Rumors began circulating that she had been seen at an Indigo Girls concert and that seemed to bury her candidacy. I am sure this was just a misunderstanding and by injecting some harsh anti-gay rhetoric into her next campaign she can overcome this.
For me as a Republican, the best news was that we had two women running for the top spot. We can’t hope to win back the White House with the same old personal attacks and tired policies. We need new personal attacks for a new generation and having been married, I know that women are quite good at them. We need to either change our policies or our rhetoric and policies are very difficult to change. The future for the GOP appears very bright indeed as we continue to shed the liberal hangers on and strengthen our ties with our base.
These new women don’t hold a candle to Sarah Palin.

What, you can’t endorse/make racist slurs on your own
Facebook page anymore? Its like Bachmann says, we get to choose, liberty or tyranny!
