White House Owes Andrew Breitbart an Apology

leave a comment »

Who hasn’t been in this position?  You meet a girl and you joke around with her.  You playfully call her a bitch, and she laughs and responds that you’re a bastard.  Then you go a step further and use a little Mel Gibson language and she pours a drink on you or slaps your face.   The same thing happened to Andrew Breitbart in a way.

You see Breitbart first came to national attention when his deceptively edited video made ACORN look like they were supporting prostitution.  The result was without really checking out the video, ACORN was defunded.   Even today, many people have not paid attention to the troubling aspects of the video like the employees who called the police about the “pimp” and “prostitute” who visited.

Seeing what he had made and calling it successful journalism, Breitbart shoddily edited another video tape and was shocked to find everybody overreacting.  An innocent woman was fired and Fox News was left with egg on their face after promoting the video.  What mistake did Breitbart make?  Simply put, he was too trusting.   He trusted the Obama administration to investigate the video, find out what it was and then leftists and patriotic Americans could fight in the media about what really happened in the media.  Unfortunately, when the White House didn’t do their job and overreacted Breitbart was left holding the bag when people mistakenly blamed him for an innocent woman losing her job.  Of course isn’t true.  While Ms. Sherod may not have said anything racist in this speech, she probably did in another one.

The White House needs to react immediately to apologize to Andrew Breitbart and restore his good name.  They are the ones who have dragged it through the mud by believe him and not checking out the facts.   Until they do, Breitbart remains a victim of the reverse-racism of the Obama White House.

The Dangers of Political Satire

with 3 comments

There is a real danger out there my friends.  You see it on shows like the Colbert Report.   When I first started watching the show I found it extremely refreshing.  On a lefty dominated station like Comedy Central, there was Steve Colbert with a solidly conservative voice.  He even called Bill O’Reilly Papa Bear.  Well three years into watching the show religiously, I found out that it was all a put on.  Colbert was a liberal portraying himself as a satirical conservative.  I was sickened.

There was something similar that happened today and many conservatives believed that we were going to be placed under martial law because of a 3 year old story from The Onion.   I’d read the newspaper a few times and didn’t care for it, but now I found it The Onion is also satire.  Here’s the clip:

When ordinarily rational conservatives saw this, they reacted all over Facebook like this.  Is it their fault no?   That’s the insidious nature of satire.  It pretends to be real news and people believe it.   Look at what happened yesterday when Democrats took the bait from brilliant satirist Andrew Breitbart who first came to prominence by editing a video tape to make it look like ACORN was supporting prostitution.  This time Breitbart took a speech by a USDA employee talking about how she learned to overcome her own racist upbringing to learn to help everybody and made it sound like she was refusing to help people based on race.  In fairness to this employee she probably became an employee when her father was murdered by the KKK, but it’s still no excuse for being predisposed not to like white people—we’re very lovable.

Well, the liberals bought this hook line and sinker even though they felt for Breitbart’s pranks before.  Before they even validated the statement, Shirley Sherrod was thrown out of the department and hoping that unemployment benefits would be extended.  Today the liberals have egg on their face after hearing the unedited speech she gave.  Oops!!  You fell for it liberals.

That is why I don’t like satire.  It can hit Democrats and Republicans equally and what makes it so dangerous is you never know when what you read is satire and when it is real.  New Zealand managed to ban political satire.  I am hoping that I can use my influence in the Kimble campaign to get him to pass a similar law here.  One thing’s for sure, at Thatsrightnate.com you’ll be able to continue to count on the same sold Conservative values you’ve always expected and still 100% satire free.

The Lessons of the Holocaust Museum Shooting

with 5 comments

A few months ago the Department of Homeland Security published a hateful and erroneous report claiming that there was rising danger from right wing extremists.   Now, because we have had a white supremacist shoot two girls in Massachusetts, a conservative in Pittsburgh killing cops, a doctor murdered, and now this attack on the Holocaust Museum some people are starting to believe this report.   However, this is an overly simplistic reading of the situation.

Was James Von Brunn (The Holocaust Museum shooter) even a conservative? Andrew Breitbart of The Drudge Report and the Big Hollywood website doesn’t think so.  He said, “This guy was after neo cons like me who are conservative…This guy’s a multiculturalist just like the black studies and lesbian studies majors on college campuses.”  This is an interesting theory.  I am not sure if Von Brunn was part of a growing tide of neo-nazi on college campuses to study blacks and lesbians, but it is certainly possible.   While a note was found in Von Brunn’s car saying “You want my weapons this is how you’ll get them” and “Obama is a puppet of the Jews”, Breitbart points out he was a 9/11 truther who believed that 9/11 was a government conspiracy just like some people on the extreme left so you can hardly call him a conservative.

What set him off? Conservative babe Debbie Schlussel has a theory.   She points out that “Mr. Von Brunn has been on this planet for 89 years, and he didn’t feel comfortable shooting up a Holocaust museum until now–this new era of “tolerance,” in which we must tolerate the most extremist Muslim behaviors and sentiments.”  True, he felt comfortable arming himself to the teeth and storming the Federal Reserve in the 1981 in an attempt to kidnap the members.  However, the point remains.   Nazis didn’t start targeting Jews until after Muslims did.

What bothers me is that Rush Limbaugh saw this happening.     He warned us only a few short days ago to forget about the Holocaust because it happened a long time ago.  If they hadn’t built a museum to study it, this crime never would have happened.  If only we had heeded his wise warning.

Kathleen Shaidle points out that Von Brunn was hardly a mainstream Republican, “For example, von Brunn frequented Ron Paul discussion forums, where reasoned discourse is thin on the ground. It’s true that Mr. Paul was allowed a podium at the most recent GOP Presidential debate; however, let’s recall that Al Sharpton was granted a similar platform at the Democratic counterpart, within living memory.” If we accept that Von Brunn is a Republican, than we must also assume that all Al Sharpton followers who go on criminal rampages are mainstream Democrats.

Of course as Michelle Malkin points out, maybe Von Brunn wasn’t really a conservative or a liberal.   Maybe he was an equal opportunity hater.   Maybe the problem in all these cases isn’t political belief, but that whack jobs have access to guns very readily in this society.   Maybe an 89 year old who couldn’t even open a museum door without help would have been far less dangerous with a knife.  Perhaps, we can agree as a civilized society that speech, even occassional hate speech, is just talk and that readily available guns are the root cause?   Sorry, but I just don’t buy it.   The second amendment says we have the right to bear arms.
