Brit Hume Warns That Blogs Will Lead to Partisanship
When a respected journalist like Brit Hume issues a warning, you can believe that I take it seriously. After all, it was from Hume’s warnings that I learned that Barrack Obama was a Muslim, and that Democrats were “embarrassed by patriotism”. At the conservative Media Research Center’s Media DisHonors, Hume warned of the dangers of bloggers distorting news coverage by being partisan. According to Hume,”What are we getting?…We’re getting bloggers and websites and all sorts of individual entrepreneurs, and we have a vaster menu of choices today than we’ve ever had. But I think that we also have the danger that everything will be presented from one political viewpoint or the other, and that the media that confront us are going to be more partisan than ever, which means that the Media Research Center will have a mission for many years to come, and a good thing that is.”
Like Brit, I too am grateful to have the Media Research Center looking out for the truth. They are the ones who broke the global warming hoax, the public university bias against creationism, and the way that gays in California were using violence to stop Christians from practicing their religion. It is important that as citizens of this country we get are information only from fair and balanced media sources like Fox News and Media Research Center and not sources that skew to the right or the left. I hope that over the past year this humble website has joined such illustrious company.
Britt Hume paints a scary picture of a world where media organizations like Fox are passed over for content that doesn’t have the same objective standards. Without a fair and balanced press, a Democracy cannot function. Brit Hume’s belief in not being on the side of the right or the left is what has enabled him to stay squarely on America’s side.
Blogroll Amnesty Day
Wow!! You guys sure didn’t make it easy for me. I know that no other blog could possibly compare with mine, but I expected at least a smattering of mentions. There must be some other blogs you read if only to laugh at them and compare them to mine. With that in mind, I decided to make a real effort to find the other blogs out there that were small and worthy of a greater audience. Doing so, I ran into a huge problem and that was it is much easier to find big blogs than small blogs. I don’t think Talking Points Memo really needs more help finding an audience from me. Anyway, here are 5 blogs that aren’t on my blog roll and deserve to be seen by more people. I still would appreciate if anybody can mention any small blogs that I should be checking out if only to crush potential competitors in a hostile takeover.
1. Jenny Sais Quois – Subtitled a quarter life in crisis, she’s 27 and this isn’t one of those angst ridden diaries of a 20 something which I have little patience for outside of the movie Lost in Translation. The blog hasn’t been updated frequently, but I enjoyed a couple of her posts quite a bit.
2. My Empire of Dirt – I first found this blog over Summer when he was blogging about my favorite topic–me. He has a substantial blog about Canadian and even American politics. It really has grown a lot since I found it over summer.
3. My Apologies – If my blog is consuming most of your reading time, this blog’s entries are short and sweet even if they tend to be liberal and terribly misguided. It is a great source for pictures of conservatives though.
4. Just an Earthbound Misfit – OK, I think this blog may be bigger than mine. The author is certainly more prolific, but I enjoyed it quite a bit and wanted to include them because I don’t think they’re mammoth or anything.
5. Zen Yenta 2.0 – This woman has been a presence on the web for awhile now, but she’s back with a new blog. She was the first person to discover this blog and for that I will always be grateful. Her support kept me going when I thought I was the only person reading it. She’s also a witty and articulate blogger and a person of exceptional taste.
Please check out these other blogs. I will be adding them all to my blog roll sometime this week. I hope everybody had a wonderful Blogroll Amnesty Day.

Blogroll Amnesty Day – February 3rd
The Blog Roll Amnesty Day Video:
I hate the word amnesty. To me it brings up images of illegal aliens being coddled and of amnesty international whining about water boarding. However, this February 3rd marks the third annual Blogroll Amnesty Day and I believe it is a day whose time has come. The original day was started by the liberal blogger Atrios who used it as an excuse to remove smaller blogs from his blogroll. Isn’t that just like a liberal to crush the small blogger’s dream? Some bloggers chose to use this day to celebrate small blogs and to use it to recognize blogs smaller than their own. You can read more about the holiday here.
This idea of celebrating Blogroll Amnesty Day has a lot of appeal to me as a supply sider. I like the idea of celebrating blogs smaller than mine and frankly there are very few blogs larger than mine. I have over 150,000 visitors in less than a year online and I expect that’s probably fairly close to people like Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. I decided that I will use February 3rd to update my blogroll and include tsome new blogs that I think are worth a look. The first two are easy:
Our Love is Amazing – Frequent Thatsrightnate contributor Beccy Joe travels the highways and biways of North America with her husband (I hope its her husband and they aren’t living in sin) BJ and their van John Henry. It kind of reminds me of the old 1970s Saturday morning Shazam show except with lots of snow. Actually, they don’t travel that much, but they do have the van.
Mysister is a Space Cadet – Another frequent poster on this blog, Fraser posts about her daily life and ponders things like science fiction and her cat. It hasn’t been updated since the new year, but I hope this is a temporary glitch.
Now lest I be accused of nepotism, I need to find some fun smaller blogs that are no relation to the Thatsrightnate family. I have a few in mind, but frankly most of the blogs that I follow are already on my blogroll. So help me out here. Before February 3rd let me know what blogs you follow. Then come back here February 3rd for the grand unveiling. Oh yeah, the video comes from Bluegal who is a liberal, but some readers of this blog might enjoy visiting her site.
The old Saturday morning Shazam show:
I think it’d be a lot tougher today to take a teen boy and be his mentor as you travel the country in your Winnebago together.
75,000 Hits – You Are the Real Heroes!
You guys are the real heroes. Sure, I’m the one with all the insight, the one who makes these profound little posts, the one who fills your minds with all this knowledge–you are the ones who read the blog. A blog is a community and without you all, I would not have nearly the influence that I do. It is the little people who make this blog what it is.
We have a coming cultural war. I don’t have to tell you what’s at stake in November. I know I don’t have to convince you to vote for McCain, but I do know that by reading my blog I’m filling all your brains with knowledge that you can use to convince other people to vote for McCain. That’s why i don’t use a lot of big words. I want to make things as simple as I can for you to understand. I also try to limit myself to two posts a day so that you don’t suffer information overload. Together we will help to bring this election home to the Republicans, not just McCain but in the house and senate too. Join with me as we take this website into a brave new age.
Do Not Be Intimidated By My Intelligence
We have had two record setting weeks in a row on this blog. For the past 2 weeks we’ve been double the number of hits we were getting in previous hits. The 25,000th hit should come this week. Unfortunately, many of you aren’t taking the time to post. I put this down to two different things. I am pretty sure the liberals who read this blog seethe with anger when they see what I write, but are too scared to post for fear that my sharp tongue will humiliate them. I think conservatives figure I’m better informed and more able to explain our side of things and they don’t ask questions for fear they’ll be embarrassed.
For liberals, I can promise you that part of why I’m here is to educate you and help you learn how to think and how to analyze. If you are respectful I won’t attack you. It would be counterproductive. I reserve the sharp end of the blog only for self-defense.
For conservatives, I can assure you that asking questions is the only way to learn. Don’t be intimidated. There is no such thing as a dumb question and I’m happy to help you in any way that I can to find your own conservative principles to live by.
I have made two exciting changes to the blog. First, you can now access this blog at www.thatsrightnate.com . I wanted people to be able to avoid all that extra typing so I bought the domain name. I have also added an RSS feed to the blog so that people can be constantly updated.
25,000 hits are coming and I feel that I have won our side a little foothold in the culture war. It won’t be long until they will call this blog our finest hour.
I’ve Been Memed
Not much I can report today. I am working on a revelation that will knock everybody’s socks off, but it isn’t ready yet. So this morning I’m going to work on replying to the Meme thing. I got Memed by a great conservative Blogger named Rigg who is also a great guy. Here goes:
1. Write the title to your memoir using 6 words:
I have very little use for books. However, I have throught of writing a memoir before if only because it would make a great movie. The title I came up with was American Spartacus: Confessions of a Culture Warrior. I guess I could shorten it to How we won the Culture War.
2. Post it on your blog.
Doing it now
3. Link to the person that tagged you.
