Obama’s Notre Dame Speech Against Catholic Morality
Notre Dame's picturesque campus is known for gargoyles and Touchdown Jesus
[I normally don't repost articles, but Congressman Jack has been kind enough to let me repost his open letter to the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from there in 1985 and while I am not fan of papists, his letter shines a lot of light on what a let down Notre Dame's decision to award an honorary degree to Barack Obama is to some alumni. I will post again tomorrow, but today I'm busy with Tea Party 2.0. If you would like us to tea bag you over the phone, its going to cost $1.99 per minute. GOP operators are standing by and all major credit cards are accepted.]Dear President Father Jenkins,
As a 1985 graduate of Notre Dame, I have many fond memories of my time spent in our lady’s hallowed halls. Since graduating I have always remained proud of my alma matter and I have applied the moral training that I received at Notre Dame to my career in public office. As a member of Congress I am often called on to make tough moral decisions and it is my faith and the influence of Notre Dame and Ronald Reagan that allow me to make the tough choices.
It is for this reason I am writing to you to protest in the strongest terms your decision to have President Obama speak at this year’s Commencement Ceremony. A graduation speaker must uphold the values of the University he is speaking at and President Obama does not do this.
I remember my own graduation very vividly. When El Salvadoran President Juan Napoleon Duarte spoke to us, we knew that he was approaching us as a fellow Catholic and Notre Dame alumnus and that his faith had carried him through difficult times. When those nuns were murdered in his country by right wing death squads under his leadership he must have felt awful, but like Job in the Bible he persevered to continue fighting against socialism and for Catholic ideals in El Salvador.
My grandfather graduated from Notre Dame in 1942 and while World War II was in everybody’s thoughts, it was speaker J. Edgar Hoover who told the graduates about a world where law and order would be strictly enforced. This was another moral man who spoke with the convictions of our beautiful university. What Obama must understand is that the decision of Earl Warren (Commencement Speaker 1957) and his Supreme Court in Roe vs. Wade is an anathema to Catholic teaching
Through the years, Notre Dame has had war heroes like William T. Sherman and politicians like President Bush speak at graduations and they have always been men of the highest character. How hypocritical is it of our great university to now ask somebody like Obama, who is quite probably secretly a Muslim, to speak. To go from a great fighter of socialism in Juan Napoleon Duarte to a socialist like Obama in the span of just 25 years is distressing and I fear for the future of Notre Dame. I am suspending my $20 annual contribution until this matter is rectified and a new football coach is hired.
Sincerely,
Representative Jack Kimble (Class of ’85)
My Saint Jing-Tao-Wow Day Adventure

Saint Jing-Tao-Wow Day was indeed a great day for the Irish
What a great day I had this morning celebrating America’s newest holiday Saint Jing-Tao-Wow Day! I hope you and yours had a joyous holiday as well.
9:00 Woke up and had 3 soft boiled eggs on white toast with orange juice for breakfast. Went out in my pajamas to get the newspaper.
10:15 Arrived at work late and chewed out my employees for slacking. Demanded that DuJuan an African-American employee play basketball against me at the local park. I didn’t believe him when he told me he wasn’t very good. We played for like 20 minutes of just awful basketball. I let him know that I’d expect more from him next year.
11:30 Went to lunch. I had a tuna melt and 3 martinis. I had a lot of fun hitting on the waitress.
12:40 Arrived back at work and took a nap. I told my employees that they were in charge and left promptly at 2PM
2:15 I listened to some light rock on the car radio as I drove around and watched other people celebrating the holiday. I saw a white police officer had pulled over a black motorist and I honked at them both and gave them the thumbs up sign.
4:00 I arrived at my sister’s place. It was a madhouse. All the kids were running around acting super Catholic. Somebody didn’t get the memo and decided a Saint must mean its yet another religious holiday. I guess too many crazy kids running around and overly religious behavior is stereotypically Irish so maybe in their mixed up way, they celebrated the hobby. Steve started prattling on about something or other with Easter so I was out of there by 4:30.
5:00 Dinner was tuna noodel caserole, but I used my mom’s recipe which has a special secret ingredient–you put crushed up potato chips on top and bake it with the chips right on there. Of course when you eat alone you mostly just scrape off the top layer with the potato chips and put the rest into tupperware until you’re not really sure what it is anymore.
7:30 Cracked open a couple of microbrews and began to write this article. I’m not really sure what this stuff is, but at $7 a bottle you know its good.
5 More Amazing Christmas Gifts
Many of you have told me how much you appreciated my Amazing Christmas Gifts post awhile back. Well since that I posted that I found some new gifts and thought a few things I forgot about so allow me to present 5 more amazing gifts for the holiday season.
5. Jesus Inspirational Sports Figures — For your Christian sports fan what could be better than Jesus Christ himself playing your favorite sport. I admit as a hockey fan I was a little disappointed to see soccer in there and hockey omitted, but these amazing statues from www.catholicshopper.com are truely divine. Best of all, Jesus is dressed in white so he can be repainted in your favorite team colors. ($21.95)
4. Santa Door Greeter — Is there a better way to keep yourself in the mood for Christmas than with a large motion sensing door greeter Santa Claus that screams out “Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas” and plays an electronic Christmas carol every single time somebody opens the door over and over and over again. Just think how your family will light up on Christmas Eve when the Santa goes off 10 or 20 or 30 times. I found this one on EBay for less than $10 ($9.99). [Thanks to Scootmandubious for finding this one.]
3. Lockdown: The Liberal Agenda to Bankrupt the Self-Storage Industry and Turn America into a Third-World Country by Nate Peele — This Dusk Jacket will fit over any hardcover book between 350-400 pages and at $7.99 is considerably cheaper than most new books. You can read more about my exciting new Dusk Jacket deal in the archive ($7.99)
2. Pretty in Mink Calendar – The sexiest women of the conservative movement together in a calendar that shows their outer as well as inner beauty. This calendar which is great to rub in the face of any PETA activist is to show them the lovely Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin wrapped in mink on your wall. The calendar advertisement doesn’t really show pictures, but it claims to turn back time for the conservative women and ” made them up into glamorous movie stars of classic Hollywood.” I’m looking forward to seeing the lovely Ms. Coulter as Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind. ($25)
1. Self Storage Gift Certificates – For $100 you can pay for a 5×10 storage space for a month. This is an ideal gift for a child moving back home with you after losing his job or a friend who got foreclosed on. Individual storage prices vary from location to location, but please remember storage units are not proper housing and should not be used as such. (Varies)
Polls Show Obama Hurting
Recent polls showing Obama with a lead over John McCain for President may get Democratic voters all tingly with excitement, but a deeper look at the numbers beneath the numbers shows that Obama is in poor shape. The first thing that jumped out at me from the latest Rasmussen Poll is that Obama trails McCain by 18 points among Asian non-college educated women over 35 in states with at least a 12% African-American population. Perhaps even more startling is the 14 point McCain lead among gun owning Catholics in Southern States with two years or less of college education working in white collar jobs. These are important demographics that any Presidential candidate needs to win if they are going to be triumphant in the Fall election. To see Obama falling so far behind in those 2 groups is good news for McCain as we ramp up to the fall campaign.
Catholic League – Obama Must Speak Out On Church Ills
Following a day in which Barack Obama was both praised and attacked from the pulpit by Catholic Priests The Catholic League is now attacking Obama for which priests he associates with. In the invocation at the New YorkState Republican Party Dinner, Monsignor Jim Lisante mocked Obama. On the same day video surfaced of Father Michael Phleger preaching at Obama’s church mocking Hillary Clinton. Obama immediately condemmed the remarks and Phleger apologized, however the Catholic League sees things differently.
The Catholic League who is sort of the Catholic equivalent of the Justice League, but without superpowers. “Why is it that of all the wonderful Catholic priests in the Chicago Archdiocese, Obama long ago chose Pfleger to hang with?” Catholic League President Bill Donohue said in a statement. “Truth be known, Pfleger has a very troubling history.”
With such a troubling history it almost seems like there should be some kind of authority that could discipline and remove bad priests. Unfortunately, if you’re looking for discipline or a hierarchical structure the Catholic Church is the wrong place.
Members of the Catholic League also found it troubling that in his public life Obama has done nothing to tackle issues of Canon Law such as the ordination of women or married priests. Obama likewise has a lackluster record on doing anything to prevent the church sexual abuse scandal of recent years. Nor has Obama distanced himself from controversial church practices of the past such as indulgences, the inquisition, and perceived anti-semitism.
With Obama clearly unwilling to take on issues such as these which are important to Catholics there can be no doubt he will be stung hard by their votes in the Fall. I have never been a big fan of Papists myself, but I find myself totally agreeing with them in this case.
Putting the Pope on a Rope
I’ve never had any use for the Catholic church. I’ve mentioned before that my sister married a papist. As many know the Catholic church lost its way in 1090 when Peter the Hermit began using rosary beeds to pray. I’ve always admired John McCain for his vigilant anti-Catholicism including courting the endorsement of Reverend John Hagee who calls the Roman church, “The Whore of Babylon.”
The pope Wednesday exhorted Americans to “welcome the immigrants who join your ranks today, to share their joys and hopes, to support them in their sorrows and trials and to help them flourish in their new home.”
Basically, the Pope encourages illegal immigration, but why? What does he have to gain? Why should he care? It took the brilliant conservative representative Tom Tancredo to nail him. On Thursday Tancredo called the Pope out on wanting more foreigners here because Mexicans are all Catholic. There’s a reason that Tancredo is on the short list of McCain’s VP candidates and it is courageous statements like this one.
Catching Up
I have a lot of mini-stories so I thought I’d catch up on a bunch of things at once.
1. I still have not heard from Democratic Underground. I am disapointed because I believe I at least deserve an answer as to why I was banned. If you are still posting on there and you want to help out show me what I said that was so terrible. I think they were scared I’d convert too many Democrats. I continue to post on Talking Points Memo without problem.
2. I am in day 2 of my Allan Colmes Boycott and it is getting a lot harder than I thought. I didn’t reallize that I was so addicted to Sean Hannity’s brilliant analysis. I find myself watching Hannity and Colmes and just muting the Colmes parts. I hope to be able to ween myself off the show soon. Its hard though. Sean Hannity is a national treasure, but I will be strong. As long as Allan Colmes is spewing his hatred I will be boycotting his show.
3. My Stop Loss boycott has just about driven that wretched film from theatres. Remember, save your money and stay away.
4. I mentioned before that my sister married a Catholic. I think that’s what drove my father to his grave. Anyway, the pope is visiting the US. I don’t know how anybody could follow such an old guy. Why not a younger pope?
5. The Dumocrats are self-destructing. Let’s go out there and vote McCain!
