Isn’t it Time to Forget About the Holocaust?

with 7 comments

I was listening to Rush Limabugh the other day and he made a great point about Obama’s trip to Buchenwald in Germany–”Who cares”.   Let’s face it folks it’s been 60 years and it’s time to move on and thank our lucky stars that the wholesale slaughter of a people can never happen again.  Limbaugh rightfully took Obama to task for, “ripping  Germany to shreds over something they did 60 years ago.”

Sure the Holocaust was sad and all that, but it is the product of an earlier age over 60 years ago and the result is a whole lot of museums, memorials, and presentations.   Let’s face it, The Holocaust has become big business.  Of course Limbaugh did little to hide his contempt from those who continue to profit from the Holocaust saying “Of course Elie Weisel gets up there and does his thing but it’s 65 years here or close to it.”

When somebody who loves this country as much as Rush Limbaugh and somebody who hates this country as much as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad actually agree on something, its either got to have some merit or they both have to be completely irrational.  Do we really need to refight this battle when it has now been established by Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich that traditional racism is dead and now is the vestige of liberal reverse racists?  Let’s face it most of the Jews who died in the Holocaust would be dead by now anyway.  It is sad, but true.  Fortunately, Rush Limbaugh isn’t afraid to point this out.  Instead, as Republicans we need to let bygones be bygones and move on to an even more dangerous threat—liberal bias.

Last week,  Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) launched the Media Fairness Caucus, made up of about a dozen House Republicans, aiming to fight liberal media bias before the liberals can get to Fox News.  As Smith said, Let me just say — this is going to sound radical, I don’t mean for it to be radical — but to me, the greatest threat to America is not necessarily a recession or even another terrorist attack. The greatest threat to America is liberal media bias.”

This doesn’t sound radical to me at all.  Some of Smith’s complaints include attempts by the media to try and tie the Bush administration to the current Obama recession, being too pro immigrant, not calling Obama “liberal” often enough, and not grilling the First Lady with hard hitting questions.   This evil that was brought down upon the Republican Party this past election party is something that we can never forget.   As Republicans we must cry out when we see such liberal bias–Never again!

Hit the Road Arlen

with 7 comments

Today, Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter became a Democrat.   Actually, that’s not quite right.   In my mind he always was a Democrat.  Specter, who voted for Obama’s bloated stimulus package, has time and again failed to live up to the values that make our party great—discipline and the ability to vote no to stuff that Obama proposes.  He had no right to leave the party just because we were trying to get a more conservative politician to run against him in the Republican primary.  The people of Pennsylvania voted for a Republican Senator and that’s what they deserve.   The good news is we have managed to purge our party of all but two disenting voices—The Laverne and Shirley of the Capitol Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine.

Now personally this may be good for Specter.   He probably gains a chance to return to Washington for another term, but what does he lose?   To answer that, I composed a list of those things that any good Republican would miss about the GOP:

10. Rush Limbaugh’s producer’s voice mail number

9. Michael Steele’s Def Conservative Poetry on C-Span 8

8. David Vitter’s porn collection

7. Immunity from Michelle Bachman’s “He’s probably a Muslim” list

6. Senate Tea Bagging Parties (Wow that never gets old)

5. Weekly Shirts vs. Skins basketball games

4. Being on the same side as Joe Lieberman I think.  Wait, no actually hmm yeah.   I think that they’re on opposite sides. I can’t keep track.

3. Making up fake notes from John McCain to pass to Lindsey Graham

2. Hiding Jim Bunning’s briefcase and pretending to help him look for it.

1. Invitations to Rupert Murdoch’s September 19th Talk Like a Pirate Day Party

The Republicans will survive.  We will remain a big tent party because of all the people who are economic policies now have living with their families in big tents.  Mister Specter on the other hand, let’s just say its his loss.

Taking Back the Country Republican Style

with 6 comments

republican-and-proudI remember when my daughter was in first grade.  She ran out of school crying.  I asked her why and she told me that Poopy Head had called her a name.  Now, I knew some of the people in her class, but I had no idea who Poopy Head was.   It turns out it was a boy named Brett who had made fun of her.  She was so upset that she couldn’t call him by his name anymore so she started calling him Poopy Head.

I totally can relate.   Today, as a party we are stepping forward to do exactly the same thing.  In an email sent out to 168 RNC members on Wednesday, RNC committeeman James Bopp stated, “The proposed resolution acknowledges that and calls upon the Democrats to be truthful and honest with the American people by renaming themselves the Democrat Socialist Party.  Just as President Reagan’s identification of the Soviet Union as the ‘evil empire’ galvanized opposition to communism, we hope that the accurate depiction of the Democrats as a Socialist Party will galvanize opposition to their march to socialism.”

I think this idea has a lot of merit to it.   Don’t forget the Bush’s huge foreign policy success achieved by using the moniker Axis of Evil.  As any Captain and Tennille fan will tell you  a catchy name goes a very long way.   Look how well we did calling torture harsh interrogation.   The only problem is I wonder how many people even know what a socialist is anymore.   I think we may be better off calling them the Stinky Party or the Stupid Party.  Maybe the Stinky Stupids.  I definitely think that we should stop calling ourselves the Republicans.  Like Blackwater, when your reputation gets tarnished enough it may be time to change your name.  I really like the sound of the Guns and God Party.

Republican Teabaggers Taking Back this Country

with 9 comments

I have recently learned that teabagging actually has another meaning that I was unaware of previously.   I will refrain from using this offensive term.   However, despite the unfortunate name, I believe the huge Republican teaparty protests tomorrow will put us back on top.  The best part is that we have started this movement the Republican way–we’ve found a small start up and we’ve done a takeover on it.

This idea may have possibly started with the Libertarian fringe that supported Ron Paul in the general election.  Libertarians are extremists who believe in no government and were aghast at large government spending.  Fortunately, we’ve managed to bring this movement mainstream and allowed everybody making over $200,000 a year who will get socked with higher taxes to protest.  This will be a rainbow coalition of people of all colors–white, off white, ivory, magnolia, egg shell–who refuse to be rolled over by big government raising taxes on the wealthiest people in this country.

The Republicans who have taken this tea cup and blown it into a full blown tempest are led by lobbyist Dick Armey and his FreedomWorks group.  There is no word whether the protests are a one time thing or if they will spread into other activities on behalf of Armey’s clients like fighting health care reform and promoting big oil.  Armey is a genius at making his tactics look like grassroots efforts.   Last year he was congradulated by the Wall Street Journal for his Angryrenters.com site.

I will be out covering the event tomorrow.  I had no intention to originally, but other  Republican organizations Americans for Prosperity and The Heritage Foundation have teamed up to offer $5,000 for covering the event and I intend to grab some of that cash.   I think we all owe Glenn Beck and Fox a huge debt of gratitude for promoting these events for us.   Let’s go out there and teabag America.

Interview with US Representative Kimble

with 7 comments

In a Thatsrightnate first, we were lucky enough to land an interview with US Representative Jack Kimble (R-CA) who was one of the lucky Republicans to actually survive reelection this past November.  Representative Kimble is known for his conservative values as well as his keen financial mind that helped him run his family’s poultry business before becoming a member of the United States House.

Nate: Representative Kimble, it is indeed a pleasure to get the chance to interview you.

Rep. Kimble: The pleasure is all mine Nate.   Conservative blogs like yours are a big part of our strategy to counter the liberal media elite.

Nate: Thank you.  I’m glad to know you follow my blog.  Do you have a favorite article.

Rep.Kimble:  [Laughing] Well that’s one way to tell if I actually read it.  Your political commentary is great, but to be honest I really enjoy your music segments too.  I have favorited the Apache video by Tommy Seebach.  I have that song in my IPod now too.

Nate: Is it easier to be a freshman representative or to be in the minority?

Rep. Kimble: Unfortunately, I’ve never been in the majority.  They get the plum committee spots, the good offices, and such.  It is much better to be in the majority.

Nate: What is your main goal for this Congress?

Rep.Kimble: We wish to be a loyal, but agressive opposition to the President.  As he tries to take our country down the road to Socialism, we wish to put on the brakes.

Nate: If you do that, the country will owe you a great debt.  What kind of legislation would you like to pass?

Rep.Kimble:  I don’t understand the question.

Nate: I mean.  Are there laws that you would like to push through congress?

Rep. Kimble: Like legislation?

Nate: Yes.  We’re facing a large number of problems in this country right now.  The economy is in the tank, we have two wars going on, Iran, North Korea, medical costs keep rising, terrorism.  What would you like to get passed?

Rep.Kimble: Oh all that stuff is very important to us.

Nate: Great.  What would you like to see done?

Rep. Kimble: Well, uhm I think the  tax burden needs to be addressed….You know…The upper end of the tax bracket is ridiculous.

Nate:  Exactly.  Anything else?

Rep.Kimble: I think all publicly funded universities should offer classes in creationism.

Nate: I know Michelle Bachman hammered Obama hard about hypothetically getting rid of the dollar.   I’ve been strong about him hypothetically replacing English with Esperanto.  Glenn Beck has done a marvelous job stading up to hypothetical fascism.  Are there any hypothetical threats you would be opposed to?

Rep.Kimble: Pretty much all of them.   I’d add eliminating the tax exemption from churches and also repealing the 2nd amendment.

Nate: Those are good ones.  What are the main things your trying to stop in the Obama agenda?

Rep.Kimble:  AmeriCorps worries me.  This sounds like re-education camps for young people really.  This is just what Mao did you know.  Get these people out in the country and then turn them into puppets of the state.  I know it isn’t part of Obama’s agenda exactly, but I’m also troubled by what’s going on in Iowa.  You know that K-12 little children will be forced to learn that homsexuality is normal and they should try it and they will be given explicit instructions on how to do so.  We must protect our children from this.

Nate: Its scary what’s going on in this country.

Rep.Kimble: Thank you for having me on your blog Nate.  As Republicans, we haven’t always been as quick to embrace new media as we should.  It is great to have people like yourself on the frontlines of the cultural war.

Nate: Thanks for being here Representative Kimble.  I hope that you will come back again.

UPDATE: Congressman Kimble has joined many of his Republican colleagues in starting his own blog as a way of reaching his constituents.   It may be of some interest even to those of you who like me do not live in his district.

Take the Republican Survey

with 13 comments

Like me, most of you probably got that RNC Membership Survey this week and have been a bit slow filling it out.  I mean, when things are going well for your party (Thanks Obama Recession), it is hard to take the time to communicate your enthusiasm sometimes.  I decided to fill out my Republican survey online as motivation to get my butt in gear.

1. Why did Republicans lose the White House and Congressional seats in the 2008 elections? Check all that apply.

Iraq War
Poor Economy
Government’s Response to Katrina
Republican Scandals
Republicans acted like Democrats
President Bush’s policies
Liberal Media
Other:

OK, I’m checking Republicans acting like Democrats and Liberal Media those are for sure.  The other ones sound too much like blaming us.  I am also filling out other–”I believe it was due to a large number of illegal aliens being registered illegally by ACORN and Catholic Charities.”

2. What are the key strengths and beliefs of the Republican Party that we can build on? Check all that apply.

Social Issues
Family Values
Ethics
Free Markets
National Security
Fiscal Discipline
Limited Government
Personal Responsibility
Pro-Life
Other:

I’m checking them all and going with an other of  “I am continually amazed at our ability to stand up for morality as a party even when we as individuals sometimes fall short of it.  Our strong morals and our willingness put fiscal responsibility over giving handouts to lazy people who don’t want to get jobs and our willingness to stand up to terrorism by any means necessary including torture.”

3. What are the weaknesses of the Republican Party? Check all that apply.

Bad Messaging
Poor Response to Democrats
Republicans who don’t vote like Republicans
Standing Up for Principles
Need to Lead in Congress
Other:

No Other needed on this one.   We need to stop Republicans from voting like Democrats.  Once we find those people we need to deal with them.  We also need to lead in congress.  Let’s start demanding committee leaderships.  We did get almost half the votes.

4. What is the best way to encourage and register new voters in your community? Check all that apply.

Door-to-Door visits
Online Social Networking
E-mail
Personal Appearances by Republican Leaders in Your Area
Radio Ads
Interaction at Community Events
Online Advertising
Other:

How did they leave out gun shows?  Tell me that isn’t an obvious oversight.   NASCAR races is another nobrainer as are  conservative churches.  You find me a man with enough faith in God to antagonize a poisonous snake and I’ll show you a potential Republican.

5. What technology would you like to see the RNC make better use of to grow our Party? Check all that apply.

More Aggressive E-mail Campaigns
More Aggressive Text Messages
More Aggressive use of Twitter
More Social Networking Sites like Facebook and MyGOP
No Opinion
Other:

Michael Steele has convinced me, the best way to get our message out is by kickin some dope rhymes and layin down some mad lyrics.  “Obama don’t want your change.gov.  You’re worse than Doctor Strangelove.  You’re runnin up debt like MC Hamme.  Now the GOP’s gonna teach you manners.”   You can use that if you want just credit me.

6. What can the Republican Party do to earn and maintain your trust?

We live in a cynical, cynical world and politics is a business of touch competitors, but the party completes me.  I could no more leave this party than I could start recycling.  No matter what happens from here on out, you’ve got my support and I will always have your back.

Help Republicans Teabag America

with 90 comments

The Washington Monument stands over the Potomac as a massive symbol of the power of teabagging

The Washington Monument stands over the Potomac as a massive symbol of the power of teabagging

Come on you moderates and independents out there we know you can’t stand it either.  The rallying cry has been stuck by us Republicans, but we need you to join us as we teabag America.  The teabag movement is a new Republican movement to protest the colossal thievery going on in Washington and the huge economic crisis the Barrack Obama created in the years leading up to his election.

I believe that this is the greatest Republican protest to date against Obama.  Going Galt was a good idea in principle, but after doing it for 2 and a half weeks I finally had to give up when nobody noticed.  Conservatives have a proud tradition of tea bagging this country going back to 1773 when we refused to bend down and yield to the King of England and instead tea bagged him right into Boston Harbor.  However, for this effort to really succeed we need every Tom, Dick, and Harry who is fed up with Obama’s rigid socialist dogma to join us in our protest.  Together we can erect a monument to the everyday citizen who refuses to simply keep a stiff upper lip when Obama tries to reach into our pockets.   Emperor Obama has no clothes and the only way to show the world is by teabagging him.

We tried sending actual tea through the mail, but unfortunately the Democrats and their ridiculous 9/11 provisions have made it illegal to mail tea to congressmen or the President.  Instead simply send them a picture of a tea bag.  If you look up teabagging photos on google I understand you can find a whole lot of them, but take your time to find a good one and send the picture to President Obama or your congressman on April 1st. Remember to  be civil.  As tempting as it is to try and get a rise out of them, you can’t go off half cocked and expect to get anywhere.  This is going to be hard, but if we come together we can still pull it out.

Helping Megan McCain With Her Weight

with 7 comments

emily

Emily's shirt can't conceal her weight problem as she celebrates her birthday by devouring a chocolate cake.

This post is going out to Megan McCain or I guess maybe John McCain too.  Megan has been in the news lately because, to put it bluntly, she’s fat.  Recently, in a show of tough love Laura Ingram called her on it teasing “Ok, I was really hoping that I was going to get that role in the Real World, but then I realized that, well, they don’t like plus-sized models. They only like the women who look a certain way. And on this 50th anniversary of Barbie, I really have something to say.”

Megan immediately got defensive, ““It infuriates me,” she said. “I’m a political writer on a blog, and all of a sudden I’m too fat to write?”  She further went on to tell Laura Ingram, “Kiss my fat ass.”  Like Megan, I too am a political writer on a blog and like her father John I too have a fat daughter.  I know how defensive they can get when you suggest that they might want to order something a little less fattening at a restaurant.  Poor Laura Ingram seems to have been caught in the crossfire.  It is just a simple fact that fatties get defensive.

For John McCain it must be very tempting to love Megan like any other child in spite of her overwhelming girth.  The question though is at this time of her life is unconditional love really what Megan needs?   I tried that with my daughter Emily and what I got was a daughter weighing in at 125 pounds at the age of 12 and unlike Megan, Emily has no aspirations of a Hollywood career.  As Megan herself told The View, she has a younger sister.  Is she really setting a good example for her sister?

I especially feel sorry for John McCain who like me has always enjoyed a good fat joke or a political daughter joke.   Who can forget his zinger from the late 90s?  “Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”  I hope that he’ll have some equally cutting material about the Obama daughters in the years to come.

The real tragedy here though is Megan McCain who by all accounts has a great personality and she does have a very pretty face if only she’d take off some pounds.  She could be that young Republican sex symbol for the 2o somethings the way that Sarah Palin is for the older generation.  Let’s hope she gets her act together.  As it is now who can take a woman seriously when she obviously needs to lose weight.  If she has any hopes of being the next Rush Limbaugh she’s going to have to look more like the women on Fox.   Why do they have credibility?  Because they’re hot.  Meow!

UPDATE – One tradition at the Peele house was always hiding Easter candy so that Emily wouldn’t eat it all.  I’ll have to be really careful if I win the See’s candy contest over at Soup is not Finger Food.

Obama’s Plan to Discredit Rush

with one comment

I don’t know if anybody else has picked up on this, but the Democrat party is going out of their way to refer to Rush Limbaugh as the head of the Republicans.  Now, I love Rush as much as the next guy.  People say we have the same jaw lines actually.  However, even I know that Rush is not the leader of the Republican party and there can only be one reason for the GOP to be calling him such.  Simply put, the Democrats are trying to discredit Rush by linking him to the Republican party.

This is low even for the Democrats.   Karl Rove who knows a thing or two about putting country first asked “Is this appropriate? The idea that the White House is devoting all this time and energy and effort when we’ve got all this myriad problems facing the country…this is the same old style politics we grew to really dislike in the 1990s”  It took Rove and Bush to get rid of Clinton’s partisanship and it’ll take people like Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin to drive it from Washington again.

So what is the Democrats’ plan?  Its simple.  With the Republicans getting blamed for the recession that Obama has caused and with our approval rating at about 20%, the Democrats are trying to use us to bring down Rush.   It is an extremely sneaky tactic and it appears to be working.  We have to make it our mission as Republicans to go out there and let people know that Rush Limbaugh is independent from the Republican Party before its too late.

The Bachelor Finale, Limbaugh, and Steele

with 9 comments

Wow! It was hard to believe that after he made his choice he came crawling back and begged for another chance, but that’s just what Michael Steele did.   Last week, Steele appeared on D.L. Hughley’s show on CNN and disputed Hughley’s statement that Rush Limbaugh “is the de facto leader of the Republican Party.” “I’m the de facto leader of the Republican Party!” Steele insisted. Steele called Limbaugh’s shtick is “incendiary” and “ugly.”

Well just yesterday Steele backed down.  “There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership,” Steele said. He added, “There are those out there who want to look at what he’s saying as incendiary and divisive and ugly. That’s what I was trying to say. It didn’t come out that way.”   Did Michael Steele mistakenly forget how much power Limbaugh has over us?  Perhaps, but then again there may be a less calculating reason.

It seems that second chances were in the air yesterday.  On ABC’s The Bachelor I heard something about the winner breaking up with the woman he picked and then asking a girl he dumped to go out with him or something like that.  I guess what happenned (I hear) is that Jason picked Melissa because he was like Molly makes me think of fun and excitement, but when I think of Melissa its like I think of love and then he sent Molly home and she was like all “I don’t understand” and “you’re going to get hurt again”.   But you know, in the back of his mind Jason couldn’t stop think of Molly and he broke up with Melissa and then Molly comes out and she’s like all “I really did fall for Jason” and he’s like “I’ve learned a lot about myself in the last several days and I think everything I’ve been looking for and which I thought I found at one point was wrong and so much of what I was looking for and I didn’t even know it was right in front of my face and I think the most insincere thing I could do is jump real fast from one thing to another, but what I was hoping was that we could have a shot if we could go out for coffee or a drink and see where things…”  and she’s like “Well yeah.”

I’m pretty sure that something very similar happenned to Michael Steele.  He probably thought about Rush and he was like, “You complete me.”  I’m hoping that the day of second chances will be the beginning of something big.  Jason asked Molly to take it slow and get away from the cameras and go out for a drink or a cup of coffee.  I think that would be a very good idea for Rush and Michael as well.
